This comprehensive training program provides an in-depth and detailed description of the construction, operation and diagnosis of common rail diesel
systems, as fitted to most modern-day diesel vehicles.

This training course gives the technician a comprehensive overview of the following topics:

  • Diesel operating and hydraulic principles, combustion processes
  • Solenoid and Piezo Injectors: design variations and functionality
  • Variable-geometry turbochargers
  • Common rail specific sensor and actuator functions
  • Engine management and emission control systems
  • Modern emissions and reduction technologies, including DPF (Diesel Particulate Filters) and SCR (Selective Catalyric Reduction - Ad Blue)

Practical sessions are undertaken to further enhance trainee understandings and diagnostic skills, these sessions include:

  • Fault diagnosis and system testing using scan tools
  • High and low fuel pressure measurements
  • Injector back-flow measurement using system-specific tools
  • Oscilloscope electrical testing of sensors and actuators

This course is recommended for all general workshop technicians that perform repair work on vehicles equipped with common rail diesel systems.
