FEDERAL MODERN AWARDS

Applicable only to businesses covered by the FEDERAL system - i.e. those conducted via a company (Pty Ltd) structure.

On the 1st  June 2018, the Fair Work Commission issued their decision for the 2017-2018 Annual Wage Review, awarding an increase of 3.5% to all minimum rates of pay under the Federal Modern Awards. The National Minimum Wage was also increased by 3.5% (or $24.30 per week/64 cents per hour) to a new figure of $719.20 per week, or $18.93 per hour.

The increase is to be effective from the first full pay period on or after 1st July 2018.

We will be posting new MTA WA Wage Schedules reflecting the new award rates of pay on the MTA WA web site on or before 30th June 2018.    This will be confirmed in a later advice.  If you require your member login details, please contact our membership services team on This email address is being protected from spambots. It is to be understood that this decision does not affect the West Australian State Awards, which will be affected by a decision of the WA Industrial Relations Commission, yet to be issued, but we assume that it will be decided in the forthcoming week.

If any member has any query concerning the Fair Work Commission’s decision please email or telephone the writer accordingly.

Yours sincerely
